Meet Art DuBose
“I am proud to say I am a Houstonian.”
In the eyes of Art DuBose, there is absolutely no comparison to any other place in the world like Houston. After making Houston home for more than 27 years and becoming a bona fide Houstonian, Art knows Houston to be a true blessing and that God brought him here for a reason.
As a Black entrepreneur with a keen business background, Art made his way to Houston starting in Cali and living many different experiences in Indiana, New England, NOLA, Chicago, and the ATL. Nothing compares, however, to the most diverse city in the nation for its authenticity, its diversity, culture, and the amazing people. To be totally honest, Art never intended on making Houston his forever home, but like so many others, he fell in love here in more ways than one. Art met his wife, Carol, in Houston where they celebrated life and started a family with their (now grown) children Catherine, Mya, and Haki. As a family, the DuBose’s continue to celebrate life by giving back to their communities like volunteering on Thanksgivings at the Houston Food Bank.
Volunteering is important to Art beyond sharing the love of Houston with others. No, it’s more than that. It’s the blessings that Art has endured here through his accomplishments where he’s achieved so much. He’s found the love of his life with Carol, proudly raised three successful children, where he’s launched three businesses, met truly wonderful people that positively impacted his life, and continues to work the dream of helping others succeed by being an industry leader among human resources professionals. And, because of all of that – Art is proud to say, “I am a Houstonian.”
